Product Description
One of the most important factors in determining a reader, is the ability to rhyme. To help both your student and you the teacher, I've created these Print-and-Go Printables, Rhyme Time Word Work. The students will love the mini-activities on each page, while you'll love the ease of the prep and delivery!

Included are 24 word families (shown below) and a printable for each that focuses on rhyming words within that family. They could also be used as CVC Word Work, but I've included other types of words so I didn't label it as such. The printables are directly aligned with Kindergarten CCSS RF.2.a ~ Recognizing and producing rhyming words. I've also included a page of teacher notes and things for you to consider when doing the printables.

The students are asked to do three tasks on each printable:
~Follow a "maze" of words that rhyme and make it from beginning to end by coloring the rhyming words
~Complete the sound box trio of words, with the first two given, that rhyme. They must find the third word that fits the sound boxes shapes and rhymes. Three words are given for them to choose from.
~Circle from a grouping of words, of various types, words that rhyme with the word family. They must discriminate between the different fonts and read the words to determine those that rhyme.

All the activities are challenging enough to give them adequate practice in one sitting. Their attention will be held with the engaging and fun activities, while the also work the students fine motor control with writing, circling and coloring. All the sheets follow the same format, so eventually students should become independent with the activities. They can be done in small intervention groups, independently, or as homework. This is a perfect way to have the students practice this critical skill before becoming proficient readers!
