To find success teaching the extended amendments, I have created simple rhymes to help the students remember each of them. Each amendment contains a rhyme and a summary of the amendment. Included is a graphic organizer to fill in during groups or a gallery walk.
When teaching the rhyme please say each number.
The 13th amendment would be read as “one-three”
Each amendment has a rhyme, the exact wording in the U.S. Constitution and a kid friendly version of the meaning.
