Rhyming Barn Game
Rhyming is a skill all children need to master. This game is great for reinforcing rhyming and identifying word families or chunks. Students identify the word chunk in the barn's hayloft, then they locate two words/ pictures that belong to that word family (words will rhyme). The two rhyming word/picture cards are placed on the barn doors to match the word chunk in the hayloft. The haylofts are colored different colors for each short vowel. (a=blue, e=purple, i=orange, o=green, u=red)
I have included two different sets of rhyming cards. The first set includes the 78 rhyming cards with the picture and word. The second set includes the same 78 rhyming cards with picture and word, but in addition the cards are shaded to match the color of the hayloft to make sorting the cards into the five short vowel groups easier.
Differentiated skill sheets are also included for students to complete to check for understanding/mastery.
A variation of the game would be to play as a memory/match game.
