This is 4-day lesson plan to help students identify the elements of a rhyming couplet. Students are asked to look for patterns of rhyme as well as syllabic meter. The plan also includes looking at other various elements in the poem: adjectives, verbs, sensory details, and figurative language.

Rhyming couplets are poems with two-line stanzas of equal length. Typically, the lines have end rhymes in an AA, BB pattern. This poem is a progression through the months. Sarah Coleridge lived between 1802-1852.
