Have your student(s) name and practice the unstressed R-words in the boxes. Then say, “I will read you a sentence without the last word in it. You will hear one of the words spoken more loudly than the others. The loud word will rhyme with one of the pictures on this page. To finish the sentence that was read to you, find the picture that rhymes with the loud word. After you have chosen the correct picture, say the two rhyming words together, and then repeat the entire sentence using your best “er” sound.” Have the student(s) place a marker or chip on the picture just chosen before reading the next sentence.
