Rhyming Word Family Flip Books for Grades 1-2 in BW Only
The black line version is well suited for students to color their own flip books. These little books help students use rhyming sounds to learn new words that are similar. Each of the Key words includes a picture. There are many pages without pictures to help students transition to learning to actually sound out the words.
Following are the rhyming word families in this package:
Ack, aim, ail, air, all, amp, anch, and, ane, ang, ank, ant, ar, arp, ash, ast, atch, aw, eck, ee, eel, eep, eet, ell, ench, end, ent, ess, est, etch, ich, ick, iff, ight, ill, inch, ind, ing, ink, ird, ish, isk, itch, oat, old, ong, oo, ool, oom, ore, orn, ost, out, ow, ow, uch, uck, ump, unch, ung, unk, ush,
This high quality teaching tool requires time to assemble. I find that some older students or a volunteer parent can help, and I often assemble a few at a time.

These 63 Word Family Flip Books include an assortment of phonics skills to practice many of the words and sounds that are introduced in most first and second grade classes. They are useful for intervention in first, second, and third grade. These little flipbooks are helpful in building confidence in students. They are not meant to correlate perfectly with any one program or list, but be compatible with many emergent reader programs.
The picture clues help to provide a visual connection to the printed words, and the pages without pictures encourage the development of “sounding out” skills. This package is a great resource for centers, parent volunteers, tutors, cooperative learning, and practice at home.
