Fly-catching frogs is a fun way for students to practice identifying rhyming words. The game is designed to be played with a partner or in a small group.
Each student starts with one frog mat that includes a target word. The fly cards are placed in a stack and students take turns drawing a card. If the word on the fly card rhymes with the word on their frog mat, they keep the card. If it doesn't, they return it to the bottom of the stack. The first person to feed their frog 6 rhyming flies wins.
A recording sheet is included so that students are accountable for the rhyming matches they make. Each recording sheet has enough space for three different rounds of the game.
18 frog mats are in this set, including the following target words: cat, fan, red, pig, hop, bug, play, green, night, coat, clue, rain, brick, skirt, cart, shore, draw
All cards are included in full color and black & white, so you can pick which ones you want to print. Check out the preview to see the black and white version of the cards!
