Kids everywhere love playing Memory matching games. This is a rhyming word (CVCe) matching game that can be used in conjunction with President's Day.
This activity can be done in small groups, Literacy centers, or in pairs.
There are two sets of rhyming word picture cards for you to choose from. One set has the word with the picture; the other set has only a picture.
Choose the set of cards you will be using. Print cards onto cardstock, laminate, and cut out.
Students will play a memory game to match the rhyming cards:
Place the rhyming word picture cards face down in rows on the table. The first player turns over two cards. If the two cards turned over rhyme, the student keeps the cards and gets another turn. If the two cards turned over do not rhyme, the cards are returned to a face down position and the next player takes a turn. Play continues until all rhyming pairs have been matched. Students will write the rhyming words on a recording sheet.
