This is 10 rhyming mats / posters (regular paper size) each one with a different rhyming family. The following rhyming family are including -an, -ee, -ock, -oon, -ain,-ake,-op, -ing, -ox,-ed. Each mat has at least 8 or more words with pictures except for -ox it has only 4.
11 pages one is left blank
The pictures on the mats were picked because they easily give a clear view of what the words means. There are also more pictures for homophones (example Crain and crane) and for words that may look different example fan (ceiling fan, hand fan, floor fan). The mats are mostly in black and white so that they can be printed at school and sent home for review if wanted.
I am using one mat at a time until my students catch on to rhyming better and understand the meaning of the words on the mats. So far it is working and they are making up words that are not on the mat. I use the mats using transition times by having them give me two words off the mat. They point at the pictures and say the words. When I don't have the mat I just ask them. I also sent home a copy of the mats as we do them in class for the students to review with their parents. I work mostly with English Language Learners and that is my main reason for making with the mats with the words.
There are few pictures you need to color for the students to understand them - red, lake, tan
I made the rhyming mats when I realized my students could not rhyme because they did not have vocabulary or when I would say a rhyming word they would not know I was talking about.
I colored all the pictures on the 10 individual mats that I use as posters. I took another copy of the 10 mats and colored only the pictures that needed it and made them into a book for the classroom library.
All the pictures came from Google Clip Art.
