Rhythm Madlibs are a fun and hilarious resource for reviewing or assessing student understanding of simple quarter and eighth note rhythms. The stories feature blanks which must be filled using a word matching the given rhythm and part of speech.
With younger students, or those still working on the mastery of rhythms, it works well to complete this activity as a class. With older students or those more seasoned in rhythm practice, this activity works well completed in small groups.
Whether used as a unique review tool, “free time fun” activity, part of a sub plan, or a printable for music centers, Rhythm Madlibs are fun for students and teachers alike!
