A real life application of ratio tables. Students use a basic ratio in a rice krispies recipe and a ratio table to scale the recipe up and down.
Great conversations are started as students use the table in different ways. For example, to find the amounts needed for 10 servings, some divide the amounts for 20 servings, while others find the values between 8 and 12 servings!
The values include fractions, which provides a chance to incorporate fractions into ratios.
Students can really get into this activity (especially if you choose to celebrate their hard work with treats).
