In math, we want our students to dig deeper and do more than just compute. We want them to analyze, explain, write, and apply skills in context. Rich Tasks/Non-Routine Problems are great to use either before a unit in order to assess current knowledge and strategies or after a unit in order to assess gained knowledge. In this product, I have explained and provided the steps for how I use these problems in class. It also consists of 3 Rich Tasks/Non-Routine Math Problems that help foster critical thinking, focus on conceptual understanding and sense-making, require justification or explanation, and provide access to all students.
