This is a PowerPoint presentation, with slides that can easily be used in notes. It uses Right-Brain strategies to teach students how to remember to find Mean, Median, Mode, and Range. (MMMR)
The presentation contains specific instructions on how to find MMMR, with a strong visual reminder on the cards. It follows the lesson format- "I do, we do, you do". The last slide contains 10 practice problems where students are expected to find the mean, median, mode, and range of each set of numbers (answers not included for last slide)
Print page 3 so that students have a copy of the cards for their notes. You can easily turn page 3 into a foldable/interactive notes page by cutting the 4 notes apart and gluing the outsides into a notebook. Take notes underneath each card.
Encourage students to write using the corresponding colors (Mean- red, Median- green, Mode- orange, Range- blue).
When teaching “mean”, shock the students by actually ripping the sheet with “mean” written on it.
I hope that you find it to be a useful tool for teaching students how to find the mean, median, mode, and range. Be sure to check out my other products on Teachers-Pay-Teachers!
