This file includes 15 resource files for a unit on right triangle trigonometry. Topics/resources include:

You will download a .zip file from which several folders (containing a total of 32 .doc files and 1 .xls file) can be extracted. There is a folder that contains blank copies (student versions) of each assignment, and separate folders for filled-out notes and answer keys for homework and the test. See descriptions below:
1a – Notes – Trigonometry Soh Cah Toa
Students are introduced to the definition of sine, cosine, and tangent and use these to find unknown side lengths
1b – HW – Trig Practice HW
Practice with the material covered in file 1a.
2a – Notes – More Trig
Students extend their new knowledge of trigonometry to multi-step problems.
2b – HW – More Trig HW
Practice with the material covered in files 1a and 2a.
3a – Notes – Complementary Angles
Students explore and then state relationships between sine, cosine, and tangent of complementary angles.
3b – HW – Trig Differentiated Practice
Students determine their readiness level and do six problems (with more or less scaffolding) related to trigonometry. Note that this file does NOT include any inverse trigonometry.
4a – Notes – Inverse Trig
Students learn how to use two known side lengths to find unknown angle measures in a right triangle. In these notes, students summarize how to solve three different types of trigonometric equations (variable in numerator, variable in denominator, variable represents the angle.)
4b – HW – Trig and Inverse Trig
Students practice both trigonometry (lessons 1a and 2a) and inverse trigonometry (lesson 4a) to prepare them for solving right triangles.
5a – Notes – Solving Right Triangles Notes
Students first summarize what they know about finding unknown angle measures and side lengths, then use this to solve right triangles
5b – HW – Solving Right Triangles HW
Practice with solving right triangles. This assignment requires knowledge of trigonometry and inverse trigonometry.
6a – Notes and HW – Trig Applications
The class defines angle of elevation and angle of depression, then practices sketching and using pictures for applications of trigonometry AND inverse trigonometry
6b – More Problems – Trig Applications
If you want/need more word problems with trigonometry, this file includes several.
7a – Test REVIEW
A review of all topics covered during this unit.
Quiz Grade – Clinometer Project
Students create a low-tech clinometer and use it to collect and analyze data to estimate the height of a real object on campus. An Excel file is included that makes grading easier.

Two (similar) versions of a test covering the topics of this unit. A mixture of multiple-choice and free-response questions.
Common Core Standards:
Understand that by similarity, side ratios in right triangles are properties of the angles in the triangle, leading to definitions of trigonometric ratios for acute angles.
Explain and use the relationship between the sine and cosine of complementary angles.
Use trigonometric ratios and the Pythagorean Theorem to solve right triangles in applied problems.
