Students will create a book cover for the story “Rip Van Winkle.” They will create the front cover with images and at least one symbol as well as write a short blurb for the back of the cover. Also includes a self-reflection for students to explain the elements included in their book cover. A fun creative project for a break or to wrap up the story.
The story references the scenery as being like a Flemish painting. Teacher or students could research Flemish paintings as part of the project. The main feature of Flemish paintings is detail, rich in color, and clear vivid images. These elements have been made requirements for the project.
Format: This project does not have a set format or medium. It could be created in just about any medium, from collage to drawing/painting to digital. Could be student or teacher selected.
Students are required to have some reference to the scene on the mountain with the party.
