Product Description
"Rip Van Winkle", by Washington Irving, is considered an example of an early American folktale. It was written to entertain because it pokes fun of the European class system, gender roles and the idea of an unproductive person living in a productive society. When Rip falls asleep and awakens twenty years later, the world has changed. Many people find it intriguing to ponder the future. What would the world be like if we fell asleep now and awoke in 2033?
This activity involves the reading of Irving's short story, examination of the work and creative writing.
