During this 3 day activity, student will study the rise of post-WWI dictators: Mussolini, Stalin, Hitler, and Franco.
Student groups will:
• Draw a life-size “person”
• Read different articles about the same dictator
• Collectively gather information from the readings to place on
the life-sized drawing (e.g. information about the dictator’s
ideas or beliefs are placed on sticky notes near the brain,
vision for the country near the eyes, etc.)
• Share, then re-read articles for additional information (e.g.
biographical, interesting tidbits, etc.)
• Present information
Individual students will:
Use the guided note-taker to take notes
Attempt to gather as much information as needed to be able
to answer any of the 4 writing prompts included in this unit.
Ask questions to gather information to be able to respond to
the writing prompts
Score the presentation using the given rubric.
Respond to a randomly selected writing prompt for a dictator
over which they did not present
