This Reading and Study Guide is a modified form of Cornell Notes designed to help students locate key ideas in the textbook according to Common Core Standard CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RH.6-8.10 "By the end of grade 8, read and comprehend history/social studies texts in the grades 6–8 text complexity band independently and proficiently." It starts with essential questions, then guides students through the vocabulary and notes, and requires a summary at the end of each section. It includes a QR Code for students to hear an actual call to prayer. After students finish their notes on the Rise of Islam and Mohammad, they can fold the page to turn it into a study guide. It is designed to accompany the Holt World History Medieval to Early Modern Times textbook published in 2006.
