This is a complete lesson plan I made to explore the question of "how did Hitler and the Nazis become popular" in the buildup to WWII. It does this through several explorations. Students explore primary sources (with some DBQs), including details of an event that is little discussed in textbooks, but a fascinating story: the Reichstag Fire in which Nazis framed communists for burning down their parliament.
It's a complete lesson plan with suggestions for activities and assignments, but it's also got a ton of resources for you to do what you want to do with (newspaper articles, excerpts from books, speeches, statistics, etc.). You can easily get 5+ days of activities and enrichments out of this.
