This adapted book is written to teach children the routines related to road safety. The routines that are featured are: go straight home, cross at crosswalks, follow directions, look in all directions, follow traffic signals, if there are no sidewalks, wear helmet on bike, and know road signs. Fringe words that are highlighted are: walk straight home, crosswalk, crossing guard, look both ways, traffic signal, off the street, helmet, stop sign.
Once printed, I suggest you laminate the individual pages for reading. I've also included matching pieces for vocabulary words I have chosen to highlight in the text. More specific instructions are included for creating your adapted book to last several school years.

Adapted books would also be good resources for any young learner, an early childhood special education classroom, simple literacy or math centers for preschool and prekindergarten classrooms and home schoolers who are teaching students with unique abilities.
