Product Description
This is a fun extension project I’ve used with my 5th grade math students for several years. Over the course of a 6-week multiplication and division unit, my students would work on Road Trip after completing the lesson and activities for the day. It builds off multiplication and division concepts at its core, but draws upon mapping, planning, research and presentation skills. Students love to “shop” for cars and be in the driver’s seat of a cross-country road trip. I’ve had students work independently on it or with a partner; the choice is yours.

In addition to touching upon Mapping and US Geography standards that vary by state, this project pulls together many skills across the common core curriculum:

MATH: 5.OA, 5.NF and 5.NS
ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS & LITERACY: W2, W7, SL4, SL5

Enjoy!
