As an introduction to Roald Dahl, how about setting students an assignment to research his life independently?
Use the crossword puzzle (word bank and clues) as a skeleton to the research. At the end of the research, students should be able to explain why each word in the puzzle is important (and solve the puzzle). This is an active learning methodology, designed to stimulate students' interest, without the teacher having to do all of the work.
Each of the 40 words used in the puzzle is a key word in the study of Roald Dahl's life and work. They include names of family members, biographical details, characters and titles of some of his most famous work. Most of the answers are available on the official Roald Dahl website.

The puzzle could also be used as an assignment (project work) after completion of a novel by Roald Dahl. It might whet students' interest in reading more of his work.
The solution is included. There is a word bank to assist students.
