This is an exciting simulation project where students can write, create, and act out a news show from the Roaring Twenties. If you have the technology available, I highly recommend filming the show. My students LOVE to watch it multiple times! We have sold copies of the DVD as a fundraiser as well!
This project has three elements: interviews with historical figures, commercials for new products, and news anchors who give the political updates of the era. Each student is assigned a role to play (I have included their choice list) and it is a wonderful collaborative and differentiated learning experience.
In this download, you will find the role choice list, an overview of all roles, and three packets. Each packet is specifically designed for each element listed above (anchors, commercials, and interviews). The packets have checklists and all included instructions for the four days of preparation. All you need to supply are the resources for research on their role (presidencies, new products, historical figures).
The four day checklists include research preparation and organization, costume ideas, interview drafts, script drafts, etc.
I have done this project for four years and my students LOVE it! Enjoy!
