Learning to read is such a fundamental skill. Give your students the practise they need to develop their reading skills and have fun with this fun game! This game takes the idea of the outdoor game 'Rob the nest' and brings it indoors with a literacy twist. The aim of the game is to be the first person to have a full nest of 5 eggs that are the same colour.
How to play:
Cut out all of the egg cards and put in a pile in the middle of the circle. Each player gets a nest card. Players take it in turns to choose a card from the pile. Read the card and if they get it right they put it in their nest. The next person chooses a card and reads it. If the egg is the same colour as other players’ eggs, they can rob their nest. If they can read the word they get to keep the egg in their nest. This continues until one person has a full nest of one colour (5 eggs in total).
This is such an exciting game to play that I am sure students will want to play it over and over. There will be more editions coming for different reading skill levels. Keep a look out for updates on my Facebook page Ms K's Kreations or Instagram @mrs_mccarthys_classroom
