Nothing Gold Can Stay poem collaboration poster. This resource is an engaging and contemporary way for students to work together to create a large multi-colored mosaic/poster/mural of Robert Frost’s poem, “Nothing Gold Can Stay” that captures the essence of collaboration.

This resource is intended to complement/supplement any Robert Frost lesson, “Nothing Gold Can Stay,” or general poetry unit. It’s a great way to begin a unit/lesson or to cap one off.

The letters on the page write out the words to the poem, “Nothing Gold Can Stay” over and over again in an artistic way. Students will color in the letters. Fine motor skills are necessary and discreet differentiation is built into this poster. You will see that the letter sizes on the pages are different. Decide which page works well for each student and provide an experience that will work for everyone. While at first it may seem challenging to color the small letters you will find that it’s much easier then it looks - remember that each child only needs to color one page - encourage them to do their best and they will be so amazed at the end.

Poster Details:

  • There are 25 poster pieces in this design.
  • Each piece fits on a regular 8.5” x 11” piece of copy paper.
  • The final poster is approx. 35” x 35”
  • There are 2 poster options (different color options).
  • Markers and/or colored pencils needed: Orange & Green or Pink & Blue.
  • Color paper needed: Yellow

Colors:There are 2 posters included with two different color schemes. Poster #1 uses orange (optional - gold) and green markers or colored pencils and poster #2 uses pink and blue markers or colored pencils. (I have priced this poster as if there were only one poster but included both so you have options).

Paper: Print the poster coloring pages onto a Yellow paper so that the background will already be yellow.

*If you don’t have yellow paper you could use another light color or just leave the background white. HOWEVER - it’s VERY important that the background color is lighter than the letters or else the poster will NOT work correctly. If the background isn’t lighter than the small letters it will look like a photo negative.

Size: The final poster is approx. 35 inches by 35 inches. However, the exact poster size will depend on your printer settings.

Poem in black letters: Most of the poem is for the students to color. However, I have included each line of the poem (on both color designs) already filled in with black spread out throughout the poster. This makes the final poem stand out at the end. Students don’t have to do anything with these letters.

Be sure to download this FREE Robert Frost coloring page and quote reflection page to go along with this resource.
