Robert Lee and Me is an historical narrative that provides connections for mini-lessons with the Common Core Standards for Literacy. Based during the Civil War, the story explores the relationship between the plantation owner's son and the son of one of his slaves. This story serves as a launching ground for William, son of a plantation owner, and how he becomes involved in the Underground Railroad. It also leads the way to additional stories that explore human emotions and race relations of a trying time. Robert Lee and Me is the first story in an 8 story arc that feature William Stephens, Robert Lee, and their families and the impact that the Civil War had on their lives.
