Turn your Algebra 2 or Pre-Calculus into a Battle Zone that will keep students talking for days. Students will use vectors to program robots through a series of challenges and obstacles.
In this 22 page document you will be given a mapping to the Content Standards, an outline for how to implement the project, handout resources for students to use, and an answer key. In all it is three different assignments --
-- In “Vector Robot Skirmish” students will play a head to head game of vector addition practice. Each student will try to maneuver a robot into one of their “Win Zones”.
-- In “Obstacle Dominator" students will be introduced to robot course obstacles. Students will need to navigate courses, write vectors, solve for magnitude and direction. Velocity situations are included in the end to practice more critical thinking skills.
-- In “Battle Arena” students must navigate three battle areas with their robot. Directed by vectors and calculating their magnitude and direction, students must pass the obstacles. You can reward the student who can make it through the course in the least amount of vectors.
