WARNING: This activity packet involves SCIENCE. The children will explore using found objects and "junk". This unit will most likely spark the curiosity and creativity of children. They will use materials in ways you’ve never dreamed.
What is this unit about?
I love doing robots with my kids but there really isn’t much out there beyond “Here’s how to make a robot out of paper”. We’re living in an increasingly technological and innovative world, so it’s up to use to teach our children computer literacy. Of course it’s important for them to learn how to use a computer, but it’s more than that. Think about the great innovators and inventions over the past 50 years: Steve Jobs, smartphones, Google Goggles. Even Facebook started out as a simple idea. We need to be teaching our children how to think creatively and use what they have to do great things.
Do I have to be good with machines?
NO! Everything you might want to know is listed with the activity. If you don’t know it, isn’t this a great time to find out with the kids? The main theme of this packet is Exploration.
