Fourteen task cards suggest student projects that use items commonly found in classrooms and on school playgrounds as they explore ancient rock art. Some of the projects included are:
*designing a rock art theme park
*creating a cartoon, story, or poem with the stone age as the setting
*making brushes out of natural materials and painting with them
*carving with stones
*writing a journal entry about discovering a cave of paintings or a petroglyph
*using abstract images to create a story
*researching extinct animals
A box to hold the task cards is included. These activities may supplement a unit on ancient rock art, caves, the rock cycle, or native people.
