I wrote this activity so that students can experience first hand what it is like to be a part of the rock cycle. You assign each student (or pairs of students) to be a Metamorphic, Sedimentary or Igneous rock. They start by drawing a card at the station that corresponds to their starting point and reading the card and seeing what type of rock they turn into. They record their journey on the Student Worksheet that is included in the file. After they have journeyed through the rock cycle, there is a place for them to reflect and journal about their specific journey through the rock cycle--emphasizing the use of rock cycle vocabulary.
My students love participating in this activity.
