This resource includes four different sorting activities pertaining to the Rock Cycle. These are great for fast finishers, partner games, center time or small groups.
First Center: A concept sort is a vocabulary and comprehension strategy. Students place words in different categories depending on their meaning. Students can practice sight words and make new connections using this strategy. This center has words pertaining to the rock cycle that the students can sort into three categories on the sorting mat provided.
This resource includes the word cards, a blank word card set so that you can add your own words, sorting mat, directions and answer key so that this center is self checking!
Second Center: includes picture cards of the three types of rocks and a sorting mat. This activity is also self-checking.
Third Center: has the students sorting the picture cards based on attributes of the rocks.
Fourth Center: is a Memory Game in which students will turn over cards and try to find a matching card.
These games activities are also included in the larger integrated unit The Rock Cycle The Rock Cycle Unit
And of course the sorts are also available in any bundle that contains the Rock Cycle Unit.
