HOW TO PLAY
Give each student a Rock Stars Game Mat. Place a stack of Question Cards in the center of the table. Depending on the targeted skills, you may want to choose only 1 stack (red stars or blue stars) or mix all of the cards together in one stack. Put the game pieces in the center of the table. Students take turns choosing Question Cards and answering the questions. When an acceptable answer is given, the student rolls the Die to determine which game piece to match onto his/her Rock Stars Game Mat. If a student rolls a picture that is already covered on his/her Mat, he/she cannot add that picture to his/her mat on that turn, but must wait until his/her next turn and try again. If die lands on Rock Star!, the student can choose any picture he/she wants including guitars and microphones! (But NOT stars)
Earning Stars: After a student has answered a question, other students can jump in and add to the discussion. Students earn 1 star (any color) for each relevant comment or question that he/she contributes to the discussion. If time is limited, you can set a time limit of 1-2 minutes for each discussion topic (a timer or hour glass could be helpful). The first student to cover every picture on his/her Rock Stars Mat wins the game! Alternatively, if you’re short on time, the student with the most covered pictures wins!
