Included are 2 fully editable templates for your students to complete rock and fossil classification labs. Both labs are set up for 8 stations.
In the rock classification lab, students will look at a type of rock, record the name, figure out which category it falls into (igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic), write down any characteristics and make a drawing. Students will need to know how to recognize rock types before completing this lab. 5 post lab questions follow the lab.
In the fossil classification lab, students will write down the name of the fossil, infer if it is a plant or animal, where it lived, figure out which type of fossil it is (mold, trace, body, or petrification), and make a drawing. 2 post lab questions follow the lab.
