Rockin’ Rocks - Stone Soup Parody – 6-trait writing project
Please see the preview
This traditional story about sharing has many darling versions, including the one featured in my store, set in China. For this activity, you’ll want Tumbleweed Stew by Janet Stevenson. Jack Rabbit makes new friends, Armadillo, Buzzard and others, as they work together in this Texas setting to make Tumbleweed Stew.
Students use cooperative structures (outlined in the teacher guide) to make a new setting, new characters, and clever conversation with excellent word choice.
Over the years my students have made parodies that include Ocean Submarine Sandwiches; Cave Dwelling Pizza; Rain forest Ice Cream Sundaes and many more. A 6-trait rubric is included.
Updated 12/5/15 to fix lines that fell off the page when saved as PDF.
