Pages 3-5: Amazing Word Cards
Pages 6-10: Spelling Word and Challenge Word Cards
Pages 11-14: Word Wise (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students choose seven words from the word cards. Write a sentence for each word and list other words with the similar r-controlled spelling.
Pages 15-18: Word Work: (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students write ten words from the word cards with r-controlled vowels. Circle the vowels and the r that create the r-sound.
Pages 19-20: Let’s Write! (I hang up the imaginative story poster to help students remember what an imaginative story is). Students choose a picture from a magazine and use correct punctuation and capitalization to write a short, imaginative story to go with it.
Pages 21: Words To Know: Students find five unknown words in a newspaper, magazine, or book. Use a dictionary to look up the meanings and write a sentence for each word.
Page 22: Read For Meaning: Students read a Leveled Reader then choose two graphic sources from the book and write sentences describing the information that each source gives.
Page 23: I included a portion of Rocks in His Head for students to read for fluency.
