Two activities to introduce or review information about the types of rocks; Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic.
-One focuses on the 3 main types of rocks, and the other is a simplified Rock Cycle Diagram with interpretation questions.
This is a great way to get students thinking about the different characteristics of the 3 Rock Types:
Igneous - Sedimentary - Metamorphic
Students read through rock descriptions then look at sample images and pick out unique observational statements. Then choose the type of rock based on their chosen observation statements.
Example Observational Statements:
"This rock has visible crystals or pieces of other rock."
"This rock has wavy bands or squiggly lines. "
"This rock has sea shells or fossils pieces inside."
