This is a complete 6 week unit plan for an earth science unit covering concepts related to rocks and minerals. Week 2: Main idea-Identifying minerals: Activities-describing minerals and properties, scratch test lab, guess my rule, gemstone bar graph, minerals reading and INB page, make mineral trading cards
Week 3: Main Idea-Classifying Rocks: Activities-rock properties lab, detecting calcite lab, modeling rock layers, types of rocks reading and INB page, rock type logic line-up game
Week 4: Main idea-Weathering, Erosion, and Deposition: Activities-weathering chalk lab, freezing clay, wave and wind erosion boxes, acid rain lab, weathering-erosion-depostion reading passage and INB page, sorting puzzles and tree map
Week 5: Main Idea-The Rock Cycle: Activities- video or reading response, crayon rock simulation, web based interactive lesson, rock cycle reading passage and INB page, ride the rock cycle game
Week 6: find someone who study guide activity, numbered heads together review game, quiz-quiz-trade review activity, task card scoot review, end of unit test.
