"Rocks & Minerals" includes:
~ Mini Books “Minerals” ( p. 3-10) and “Rocks” (p. 12-19)
Each title includes 2 versions:
* One is a standard take home book.
* One has blank spaces to be filled in by students.

~ 2 KWL Worksheet: Know, Want to Know, Learned (pg. 2 & 11)

~ Label the Rock Cycle Activity (pg. 20)

~ Grammar Worksheet Extension Activity and Answer key (pg. 21 & 22)

Teaching Tips:
We complete the KWL: know and want to know sections before I read them a fact book. (I usually devote a week to studying minerals and devote the following week to rocks.)
Then, I like to read the standard version of the mini book to the class using our Elmo.
I pass out the books with the blank spaces, we re-read as a class, and fill in the missing words to help with comprehension.
Finally, I have them complete their KWL charts, grammar worksheet, and label activity. (The grammar sheet would also work great as homework, and review if you talk about it as a class the next day.)
