Rocks and Minerals
Word Search Activity
If your students are like mine, they love these. I use them to introduce vocabulary, or even just give it as morning work. Use it however you would like in your classroom.
In this rocks and minerals themed puzzle, words are found forward, backward, up, down, and diagonally. I would consider it on the challenging side since students are looking for words in all directions. Keep this in mind when considering it for third grade and below.

Also, it can be used as a literacy center if your students write about some of the words listed on the word search, or tell you the page number in a book where the features can be found. They could also use ten words in a sentence or state the definition to give you an idea of what they know about rocks and minerals.
The words included are: building blocks, compaction, density, hardness, luster, Metamorphic, rock cycle, streak, cementation, cooling, diamond, magma, heat. minerals, sediment, talc, color, crystal, erosion, Ingeous, melt, press, Sedimentary, weathering
