This PowerPoint can be used to practice the half note rhythm using the song, Rocky Mountain. The first slide allows students to locate and place the half notes on their proper beat bars with dotted lines to remind them that they take up two beats. The accompanying repeat signs will also appear with the click of the mouse. Once the half notes and repeat signs are placed, each click of the mouse will cause each of the other rhythms to appear. The second PowerPoint slide can be used for half note rhythm reading. Once students tap and read the rhythm they can raise their hand if they know what song it is. Clicking the mouse brings out the title, Rocky Mountain, and then a picture of mountains along the bottom. These two slides can be used in any order depending on whether you would like your students to read the half note rhythm or dictate the rhythm themselves.
