Product Description
Rodeo Round Up Alphabet Activities goes great with a Western/Cowboy Theme! Activities include:
• I have/Who has Alphabet Game: A whole group game that focuses on uppercase letter recognition. Any card can start {which will be the last card played}. I usually begin with the first card, so I know when it gets back to me the game is over. If you have fewer students than number of cards, give the students who have mastered letter recognition more than one card. If your students already have mastered letter recognition, use letter sounds instead.
• Alphabet Cards: There are several options to use with these cards. Match uppercase to lowercase, run two sets and match uppercase to uppercase or lowercase to lowercase, or match letters to letter sounds. You can also have a student choose a card, say the letter name or sound, if correct
student gets to keep the card, if wrong he/she puts the card back in the pile. If a student gets the “lassoed” card return all the cards to the pile.
The person with the most cards at the end of the game is the winner. Use with a pocket chart and put the “lassoed” cards behind the cards. Students pick a card and say the letter or sound. When a student picks a card with a lassoed card behind it, have the student {or class} stand up and pretend to lasso a rope and yell “yee haw”. Recording sheets are available for use, if desired.
• Cowboy Sound Clip Cards: Students look at the picture, say it’s name., then uses a clothespin to clip the letter that corresponds with the beginning sound. Use a dry erase marker if clothespins are not an option. A student-recording sheet is also available.
