Product Description
Each Monday morning, before the children arrive, I write each student's name on one of these role model papers. At morning meeting, I pass one out to each student. Only the student and I know which name is on the paper they got! It's a secret. You see, I tell the children that they are detectives and that all week, they should "watch" the student whose name is on the paper that they received. They should watch that person and catch a moment when that person is being a role model. I ask that the children give an example such as, "Susie is a good role model because I saw her help a friend pick up her crayons when they fell on the floor". On Friday, at meeting, the children read what they wrote to the person whose name was on their paper and that person gets to take home the paper with their compliment on it. The children LOVE being a role model detective and love trying to find their friends "being good". It has really made a difference in my class this year with the sense of community that we feel. Give it a try and please let me know how it worked in your classroom. :-)
