Fortune/Misfortune is one of Bill Perryman’s, author of 7 Steps to a Language Rich Interactive Classroom, “The Games People Play.” This interactive activity allows students to simulate traveling around the world to eight different countries learning about the different roles and responsibilities of citizens. Some students will get lucky on their travels while others will face devastating misfortune!
Included in this activity is numerous critical thinking and thought provoking questions, opportunities for students to discuss with peers, move about the room, and make choices. Directions for the activity are included as well as an editable PowerPoint version in case you’d like to make changes to the directions and/or activity.
Be aware that if you do not have the fonts I originally used, the editable PowerPoint version will be somewhat distorted. If you’d like to preserve the fonts in the editable version, you can download them for free. I used “Hello Hot Diggity” and “KG Fall For You.” These font artists have been gracious enough to allow all their fonts to be downloaded for free for PERSONAL use only. I have purchased a license for all their fonts specifically for commercial use. Please respect their work and terms and conditions. Here are the artists' pages for further details.
