This activity was created as a paired “center” for students to practice counting. The directions are pretty simple. I’ve created 8 different winter themed game boards (snowman, hats, gloves, snowflakes, etc.). Print the game boards out and laminate. You will need 1 die per partner. Each student will need some counters to cover their animals as the game progresses. A directions sheet is included in the file. I create all of my own graphics as well. Check them out in my store. This game will help students as they are learning to count. They will roll the die, say the number on the die, count out the number of counters that matches that number and then cover the appropriate/matching number of animals. Play continues until the first player has all of their animals covered. There are 20 pictures on each page. The directions include a variation. Determine before game play if the exact number will need to be rolled to complete the board. For example, if 3 animals are still uncovered, the student can only roll a 3 or lower to continue adding counters to the game board. Or, allow a higher number rolled to allow students to cover their animals (a roll of a 4 could be acceptable if you choose).
