This interactive SMARTboard lesson can be used over and over and over for different math problems each time the dice is rolled. jStudents first click on the large dice to get a number (this will be the answer in the math sentence) between 2-36. Then students click on 4 smaller dice to reveal numbers they can use to play with. They must arrange any of the numbers on the smaller dice in a math sentence to equal the answer they rolled first. They may use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They may also use more than one operation in the math sentence. They will learn to manipulate numbers with the operation signs to equal the answer. The number of times they can use this lesson is infinite. The lesson provides 4 slides with 6 different "answer" choices. Each time the dice are rolled, a new set of challenges appear for the students to figure out a way to make a math sentence that works. This can easily be used as a whole class activity, a small group activity, or independent practice in a center or station. It can even be used as a minilesson using critical thinking skills. What fun for students to work in teams to find different ways to manipulate numbers and operation signs. Created with Smart Notebook 11. Great for grades 3-12.
