This focuses on the short a and final -ck phonics skills. It coorelates with Scott Foresman Reading Street Unit 1 Week 1 "Sam, Come Back.
Use this as independent work, in center rotations, partner work, or in intervention groups to review the short a sound and the final -ck sound/spelling. This is a great way to help build reading fluency in your students without them even realizing how much they are reading! My students absolutely love it!
When using this as independent work I have the students come read their column aloud to me after they have completely colored in that column. Then they go back and continue working through until they finish another column and bring it to read aloud to me. I put a check mark above each column they have read aloud. Once they have a check mark above each column they can turn it in. This really helps them to be able to practice reading aloud and it lets me know who still needs practice on a particular phonics skill.
