Roll, Read, Write is a simple, yet engaging way to have your students practice their weekly phonics skill/spelling words. All you need are the boards, something to write with, and dice.
To play, students roll a die, read the word, and then write the word in the box above the word.
The mats are aligned with first grade phonics patterns but could be used for enrichment in Kindergarten or with 2nd graders who need more phonics support.
Each phonics pattern has 12 words (6 on each side) and can be printed 2 sided to save paper. There is an editable template on the last page that allows you to type in your own phonics pattern and words.
The phonics skills included:
-CVC words (short a, e, i, o, u)
-initial and final consonant blends
-consonant digraphs (sh, th, ch, wh)
-VCe (long a, i, o, u)
-sounds of y
-ng & nk
-r-controlled vowels (ar, or, er, ir, ur)
-vowel teams (ai, ay, ea, ee, ow, oa, igh, ie)
-ew, ue, ui
-sounds of oo
-editable template you can type your own phonics skill and words into
