As Music teachers we are not only charged with teaching music literacy, but are also expected help our students prepare for 21st Century jobs. “Collaboration” and “creativity” are heard a lot as is “differentiation”
If you have every tried to get a group to compose together, you may have found that sometimes students have a hard time coming up with or agreeing a final product, and often the less outspoken student does nothing.
This activity allows for everyone to have a turn and a “job” within their group.
I use this with 5th grade, but it can easily be used for older or younger students, and tailored to your needs and resources.
