In this game the students use two color-coded dice (either they make them or you can make them ahead of time) to roll an onset and a rime. The students then place the dice on the color-coded gameboard to read the word segmented and then blended. To extend the activity the students can record their words on a Real Word/Nonsense Word recording sheet.
Included in this file are directions, the dice patterns (which are editable so you can change the onsets and rimes), two gameboards, a list of the possible words (both real and nonsense), and a recording sheet.
You can use this game as a great homework assignment, center activity, small group activity, or independent work.
This particular set of dice includes short a and short o cvc words but look for more Roll-a-word games with more vowel combinations from A Kinder Teacher soon.
