Roll and Read for Grade 3!
Includes one for every week of the school year!
It helps the students develop reading fluency by practicing the words on the National Reading Vocabulary.
If you aren't familiar with the National Reading Vocabulary, it is well worth the time to take a look at using it in your classroom. The National Reading Vocabulary is a list of 800 plus words that a third grader needs to be able to read successfully. The research shows that students who can fluently read the words on this list will be reading at least a 4.0 reading level and typically score in the top 10% on standardized reading assessments.
This packet includes 1 Roll and Read for each week (36 weeks total) and coordinates with the words on the National Reading Vocabulary for each week. For example, on Week #5 the Roll and Read sentences are tied to the words for Week #5 on the National Reading Vocabulary.
It includes teacher directions. The game is very simple. The kids work with partners and take turns rolling a dice. Whatever number they roll they read that sentence out loud. The continue rolling and reading for about 15 minutes.
It can be used with the whole class or in a center.
Have fun with increasing the kids fluency and reading ability.
